I'm assuming you mean the brown thing on the wall at the top of the photograph, just right sof centre? That's one of the weights from our cuckoo clock, which was perched high on the wall.
No, the really big brown thing that extends from the left side of the photo to the middle of your dad's head, and from the floor to halfway up the window.
Duh! You know, it HAD crossed my mind that it might be a chesterfield, given its size and all, but I ruled that possibility out because the perspective seemed all wrong for a chesterfield.
